Frequently Asked Questions

Do you make after hours or weekend call outs?

Yes, however after hours or weekend call outs are at a higher rate, please check the pricing page for additional details.

What area do you cover?

I generally make service calls anywhere in the Eurobodalla Shire however mostly operate between Longbeach in the north of the shire and Narooma in the south.

Do you carry spare parts with you for repairs?

I do keep basic repair items with me for service calls, however given the vast variety of possibilities that could be encountered, I may not have everything required in stock at the time of my call. Replacement parts still in production can be obtained within 2-3 working days for repairs to be finalised.

How much will it cost?

This question is typically asked over the phone before a service call. And it obviously cannot possibly be answered, at least not with any hope of accuracy. Far too many factors are unknown at an initial call such as the speed of your system, the exact problem, its cause, etc.

I do however provide information on past and current average times for services. This information can be found at the bottom of the pricing page and gives the average invoiced time each financial year, as well as the percentage of all invoices which equalled, or were lower than this average.

What causes it?

Again this question is invariably asked over the phone before a service call is booked. And again, it is impossible to answer over the phone, your computer problem needs to be diagnosed, and that can only be done on site, not from a list of observances that may or may not be accurate, or complete.

How do I fix it?

I operate a business which provides the service of repairing computer systems, that service is not available free of charge.

Can you come today?

This question is often asked, and can on occasion receive a positive answer. A positive answer however will be dependent on me already being in your immediate area or passing through it during the course of the day, as well as availability of time to make an additional service call.

Why do I have to pay a service fee?

The service fee is used to keep the hourly labor rates lower than they would need to be to cover the expenses of running this business. The rate is determined from the previous years running expenses divided by the number of invoices issued throughout the same period. This value per invoice is then reduced by the minimum labor charge of 1/2 and hour and adjusted based on travel expenses over set distances.
