Facing the loss of your Data
|
If you’ve ever experienced this, you know just how it feels to be facing the loss of your data.
Documents, digital photographs, email, the prospect can be frightening, and the reality of losing it all can be harsh. I’ve been there myself, and learned the value of backing up my critical data, because in both of the cases I suffered, the data was unrecoverable, and only in the second case did I have backups.

There are utilities available which can recover data from drives, however being able to recover complete data can never be guaranteed, in some cases, no data may be recovered from the drive at all.
For data recovery attempts, you truly must decide just how critical recovery is, and what level of recovery you are willing to pay for. If recovery is essential, I would honestly recommend data recovery specialists who are setup to extract data from drives in just about any physical condition because even failed attempts to recover data through recovery utilities could make the data on the drive even harder to recover.

If there are things that you just simply cannot face losing, then there’s no such thing as backing up too much.
The things I can’t face losing I have backed up in several locations, those digital pictures I have of vacations? I have them stored on four physically separate drives/computers, and on several DVD discs in several locations. It might seem overboard, but those images are memories I wish to keep for many years to come, and I don’t want to risk them to whims of technology which quite often is built from the cheapest available components.
